Only three players have won the Soccer World Cup in the past as both a player and a coach

In the history of the World Cup, which was first held in 1930 and was held in Qatar for the 22nd time, only three players have won the World Cup as both a player and a manager. Both were at the top of their home country coaches.

The first person in history to achieve this was Mr. Zagaro of Brazil. As a coach, he won back-to-back World Cup in Sweden in '58 and Chile in '62, and as a coach he won the World Cup in Mexico in '70.

Born in the former West Germany, Beckenbauer helped his country win the '74 West German World Cup as captain and led his country to their third title as a coach in Italy in '90.

The third is Mr. Deschamps of France. He won his first title as captain at the '98 World Cup in France on home soil, and won the title again as a coach at the last World Cup in Russia 2018. This year's tournament is about back-to-back titles.

Only one coach has won back-to-back titles as a coach, including Mr. Pozzzo, who won the '34 Italy World Cup and the '38 World Cup in France as the head coach of the Italian national team.

Of the 32 teams that competed in Qatar, Deschamps was the only one who won the World Cup as a player.
